MAKING SENSE OF YOUR STATS
The Chairman of the Federal Reserve has a difficult job. Life though is a lot easier for him than for many other decision-makers. Not only does he have a giant staff of advisers, but the types of figures that he uses to make his decisions -- the CPI, GDP, the overall unemployment rate -- haven't changed in years. When he looks at his stats, he knows exactly what they mean.
For many business owners though, especially those trading online,
that just isn't true. New kinds of statistics seem to be created every
day and established figures can suddenly change their meaning.
Instead of reading the columns and seeing the decision, managers
are left wondering what those numbers represent. Should clicks be
unique? Are page views more important than impressions? What's
the difference between CPM and CPC?
And most importantly, what changes have had the biggest directeffect on revenues?
If you're selling online, it's vital that you know exactly what your stats mean. And that's just as true when you're selling offline too.
That's why every business report supplied by Bisint includes a quick glossary that explains all the technical terms we've used.
Sure, we expect that you'll already be familiar with most of them. But it's the new terms and the changed terms that can mark the difference between long-term success and a very fast failure.
No matter how confident you feel, always take a quick look at the
glossary we provide -- and make sure you're up to date with all the
changes and phrases. |
